Sophie Williamson: Social Media Coordinator

Hi, my name is Sophie Williamson. I’m 19 and currently studying HND media and communication at City of Glasgow College.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creativity and how media can influence and inspire people. Studying media has given me the chance to develop skills in production and communication, and it’s also sparked my interest in digital marketing and digital media. A huge inspiration for me is Katy J, the Capital radio presenter. Seeing how she connects with her audience and stays dedicated to her work really pushed me to go for media and communications, alongside my love for writing. I want to follow a path that lets me be creative while sharing stories that matter. Being part of the Women in Media team has been one of the best parts of my journey so far. Working with other motivated students has made me even more passionate about uplifting female voices and highlighting different perspectives.

I may not know what the world has in store for me after I leave college. I hope I can get a job that allows me to travel the world though.

My favourite artists are The Lumineers and Limp Bizkit. I love to express myself through the music I listen to.

My favourite shows are School Spirits and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
